As one of Southern New England’s largest networks of hospitals, health clinics and home-based care services, Yale-New Haven Health Systems (YNHHS) has ample resources to meet its patients’ needs. Yet, its executives are refusing to invest in improving healing conditions at one of its community-based facilities, L+M Hospital in New London. Instead, they are spending patient care dollars on inflated compensation packages and bonuses for top administrators.
The nurses, technologists and health care personnel at the facility are attempting to resolve the crisis in negotiations over expired successor contracts. They are urging network executives to focus on recruitment, retention and respect for the professional workforce the community depends on.
